Nigerian Corps NSCDC Removes Kano Divisional Officer After Suspect Died In Custody

A new leader, CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar, has now been appointed to take over as the Divisional Officer at Fagge, the statement added. 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has removed the officer in charge of the Fagge divisional office after a suspect died while in custody. 

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Fagge Divisional Officer, SC Amina Musa Kolawale, has been relieved of her position following the incident. 

Mr. Abdullahi explained that the divisional officer and all the officers and men on duty when the suspect died have been handed over to the Nigerian Police, Kano State Command, for further investigation and any necessary action. 

He said: “Following the sad incident in which a suspect lost his life in Fagge divisional office and the subsequent setting up of panel of inquiry for discreet and fair investigation into the case, the state Commandant, NSCDC Kano State command, Mohammed Hassan Agalama has approved the removal of Fagge divisional officer, SC Amina Musa Kolawale.”

The NSCDC also appealed for calm and assured the public of its dedication to “continuous respect to the sanctity of life, human rights as well as upholding professionalism, standard operational procedure, integrity and rule of law.” 

A committee had been earlier formed to conduct a discreet and impartial investigation into the unfortunate death at the divisional office.
