BREAKING: Niger State College Relocates Teaching Practice Students From High-Risk Areas Over Insecurity

The decision, announced in a statement by the college’s Directorate of Teaching Practice, follows state government directives on the security of schools and applies to the 2025/2026 teaching practice exercise.

The Niger State College of Education, Minna, has ordered the temporary relocation of students currently on teaching practice from Zone C and other insecurity-affected areas in Zones A and B.

The decision, announced in a statement by the college’s Directorate of Teaching Practice, follows state government directives on the security of schools and applies to the 2025/2026 teaching practice exercise.

The college said the move affects students posted to areas assessed as unsafe.

Following a security assessment of Zones A and B, only schools in Bida, Bosso, Chanchaga and Suleja Local Government Areas, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, have been cleared and approved.

Students posted to Zone C and those assigned to affected schools in Zones A and B have been directed to report to the Directorate of Teaching Practice for reposting to approved schools.

In emphasising that the directive is mandatory, the college stated: “All concerned students are expected to comply strictly with this directive.”

The management also acknowledged students’ cooperation as the relocation process continues, saying: “The College Management appreciates your understanding and cooperation during this period.”

The schools listed in the directive include UBE Primary School Kampala, Bosso; UBE Primary School Kpaidna, Bosso; FGGC, Bida; Dzwanyagi UBE Primary and Secondary Schools, Bida; Mallam Habiba Nma Bantigi CAIS, Bida; Chegungi UBE Primary School, Bida; and Mayaki Egbodza Nomadic Primary School Edokota Tanko, Bida.
