The VSCN offered condolences to the families of those killed, describing the loss as a sacrifice made in defence of Venezuelan territory.

The Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in Nigeria (VSCN) has condemned the recent United States military attack on Venezuela, describing it as a violation of international law and a breach of Venezuelan sovereignty.

In a press statement on Friday, the group said the attack resulted in deaths among Venezuelan military personnel, Cuban officers and civilians, and called for an end to the military operations.

The VSCN offered condolences to the families of those killed, describing the loss as a sacrifice made in defence of Venezuelan territory.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, comrades, and nations of all Army officers from Cuba and Venezuela who were killed defending sovereign territory and the security of the Venezuelan people,” the group said.

“Their sacrifice will forever be remembered as emblematic of international fraternity and the struggle against acts of aggression that violate the fundamental principles of national self-determination and peace.”

It mourned the “innocent civilians who lost their lives in these attacks lives that should never have been cut short by the brutal consequences of war”.

“Every civilian casualty is a painful reminder of the human cost of foreign interventions and the urgent need to uphold respect for human life and international law,” it said.

The campaign said the attack and the reported kidnapping of Venezuela’s leaders have undermined peace and stability in the region.

“The VSCN unequivocally condemns the bombardments, violations of Venezuelan sovereignty, and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores actions that have shaken the foundations of peace and regional stability,” it said.

It also described the operations as breaches of international norms and urged a global response. “These operations, which constitute severe breaches of international norms, have inflicted deep wounds on the Venezuelan people and deserve swift and unified condemnation from all peoples of conscience around the world.”

The VSCN said it stands in solidarity with the governments and people of Venezuela and Cuba, as well as the families of those killed.

The group called on the international community, including African nations, to demand an immediate end to the aggression and to seek the release of President Maduro and Cilia Flores.

It said, “We call on the international community, African nations, and peace-loving supporters globally to demand an immediate end to military aggression and hostile operations in Venezuela.

“We demand immediate release of President Nicolas Maduro and The First Combatant Cilia Flores.”

It also urged respect for international law and sovereignty, and asked for humanitarian assistance for affected communities.

“Let us honour the memory of those we have tragically lost by tirelessly advocating for peace, justice, and the sovereign rights of all nations,” it said.

The statement was signed by several Nigerian civil society leaders, including Gerald O. Katchy, National Secretary of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), and Dimeji Macaulay, Coordinator of the Anti-Fascist Movement, among others.
