The Iberekodo Primary Health Centre in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, has reportedly been left in a state of disrepair.

Acording to a recent visit by a Tracka monitoring team, the facility, which serves thousands of residents in the community, has been described as abandoned, with limited access to basic healthcare services.

During the visit, the Tracka team observed that the centre lacked functional medical equipment, had a broken roof, leaking ceilings and rooms that were unsafe for treatment.

Monitng also reported that the centre has no running water, which affects sanitation and hygiene.

“There is no running water in the centre, making it impossible to flush toilets. Health workers are forced to walk long distances every day just to fetch water before they can attend to patients, exposing both staff and residents to serious health risks.”

Despite the condition of the facility, residents continue to rely on it due to the absence of alternative healthcare centres nearby.

The platform noted that pregnant women, children, the elderly and other vulnerable residents are affected, as they have to seek care in the facility.

Monitng has called on the Lagos State government and federal health authorities to address the situation.

“Dear Gov @jidesanwoolu and Hon. @Olowajaja, this level of neglect is unacceptable. We call on the Lagos State Government, @followlasg, @NphcdaNG, and @Fmohnigeria to urgently prioritise the renovation, equipping, and full restoration of Iberekodo PHC for the benefit of the people.”
