Rivers APC Calls For National Spokesman Felix Morka’s Resignation Over Comments On Gov Fubara’s Impeachment Plot

Morka had said in an interview on TVC’s Beyond Headlines programme that at the right time, the party would reveal its position regarding the impeachment move against Governor Fubara.

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded the immediate resignation of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, accusing him of undermining court rulings and promoting a “dangerous partisan narrative” regarding the political crisis in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the State Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, the party condemned comments made by Morka during a national television interview concerning the controversial impeachment moves against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu.

Morka had said in an interview on TVC’s Beyond Headlines programme that at the right time, the party would reveal its position regarding the impeachment move against Governor Fubara.

He described Nwauju as “…an official of the old exco, saying he doubts if he is still part of the current exco…”

But the Rivers APC said it was “alarmed at the continuous ridicule, disrespect and disregard for lawful court rulings” displayed by Morka, stressing that his remarks had cast doubt on the legitimacy of statements issued by the legally recognised state executives of the party.

According to the statement, court judgments in Suit No. PHC/3592/CS/2023 and Suit No. 3859/CS/2024 had nullified the purported dissolution of executives elected on October 16, 2021, as well as the congress conducted in November 2023 to replace them.

The party insisted that these rulings affirmed Nwauju as the authentic spokesperson for the APC in Rivers State.

“Morka has lost the moral high ground to continue to act as a national officer of our great party,” the statement read.

“His misleading narrative is too dangerous to be ignored by any true member of our party praying for the APC to mobilise and win elections fair and square in Rivers State.”

The party accused the national spokesperson of attempting to launder the image of individuals it described as “non-party members” while showing disregard for Governor Fubara, whom it referred to as the undisputed leader of the APC in the state.

The Rivers APC further called on the Nigerian Bar Association and the Legal Practitioners Privileges Council to investigate Morka’s conduct.

The party alleged that his televised comments were calculated to undermine the dignity of the courts and damage the reputation of the legal profession.

“Morka’s poor attitude to the collective well-being and interest of our party leaves both a black eye and sour taste on the lips of party faithfuls across Rivers State and beyond,” the statement added, questioning whether the national spokesman was truly committed to the victory of the APC.

The party also warned the Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, against acting on the January 16, 2026, resolutions of the State House of Assembly, which were based on an interim ruling by Justice F.A. Fiberesima, describing the legislative actions as an attempted “coup d’état” against the governor.

It alleged that those purportedly elected through the 2023 congresses conducted under then-national chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje were operating on a “faulty foundation” that could not survive legal scrutiny.

The party recalled past attacks on APC members during the 2023 election campaigns in Port Harcourt and Ahoada West, accusing Morka of abandoning party solidarity at critical moments.

“We have lost confidence in Mr Morka and demand his immediate resignation from office,” the party noted, warning that further disparaging comments against the recognised executives in Rivers would no longer be tolerated.

The Rivers APC urged the current national leadership under Prof. Nentawe Yilwada and Senator Ajibola Bashiru to ensure that past mistakes are not repeated.

The party also alleged threats against Nwauju over his stance, vowing that intimidation would not deter the state executives from defending the party’s constitution and the rule of law.
