In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Oyo State Chairman, Kayode Babayomi, the party encouraged its members to “step up, take responsibility, and prepare to represent the people,” describing the coming elections as a critical moment for political change in the state and the country at large.
The African Action Congress (AAC) has called on its members and residents of Oyo State to actively prepare for the 2027 general elections, urging them to contest for elective positions and participate fully in the political process.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Oyo State Chairman, Kayode Babayomi, the party encouraged its members to “step up, take responsibility, and prepare to represent the people,” describing the coming elections as a critical moment for political change in the state and the country at large.
The AAC also extended an invitation to members of progressive organisations, social movements, student groups, labour unions, and community associations to join the party and contribute to a collective struggle for justice, fairness, and people-centred leadership.
According to Babayomi, the 2027 elections will mark “an important battle between the masses and the old order,” which the party accused of failing Nigerians over the years.
The AAC expressed confidence that voters in Oyo State have learnt key lessons from past experiences and are now ready to support a political party that genuinely represents their interests.
Quoting Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey, the party stressed the need for political organisation, noting that “the highest form of organisation is a political party.”
The party argued that uniting under a pro-people platform like the AAC is essential for meaningful change.
The party described itself as “the only authentic alternative for the people of Oyo State and Nigeria,” and urged concerned citizens to join its ranks.
It emphasised that party membership is a requirement for aspirants seeking nomination forms to contest elections under the AAC platform.
“This is not the time to sit idly on the sidelines. It is time to take action, organise, and reclaim our future,” Babayomi stated.
For further information, the party directed interested individuals to contact the Oyo State Organising Secretary.
