At least two persons were killed at the weekend when suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on Galadima Pindiga community in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, further deepening fears over the worsening security situation in the area.

A security journalist, Bakastine, who disclosed the incident in a post on his X account on Sunday, said the attackers stormed the community in the evening hours, shooting sporadically and setting several houses ablaze.
“At least two people were killed yesterday evening when suspected bandits attacked Galadima Pindiga in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State,” Bakastine wrote.
“The bandits also set several houses on fire during the raid, triggering panic and fresh fears among communities already grappling with persistent insecurity in the axis.”
The latest assault is part of a disturbing pattern of violent attacks recorded across the Pindiga axis over the past month.
Communities including Pindiga, Mamuda, Rahama, Laro, Galadima, Sabon Kaura, and Lombo have reportedly come under repeated raids by armed groups, resulting in deaths, abductions, and destruction of property.
According to Bakastine, while local professional hunters working alongside security agencies have managed to rescue some abducted residents, the frequency of the attacks suggests that armed groups are steadily expanding their operations in the largely rural and agrarian region.
Community leaders have called on the state government to urgently scale up intervention efforts, including improving road access between Pindiga, Mamuda, and Kaltanga, increasing the deployment of security personnel, and providing adequate equipment and support for local hunters assisting security forces.
“With the area serving as a major farming hub for thousands across the state, continued attacks could have serious economic and humanitarian consequences in Gombe,” Bakastine warned.
The escalating violence has raised troubling questions about what is driving the surge in banditry in this part of Gombe State and how quickly decisive action can be taken to halt the bloodshed.
In December 2025, SaharaReporters reported a similar incident when the terrorists attacked a private residence in Pindiga town, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The terrorists killed two people, including a pregnant woman, and abducted two others during the attack.
The victims were identified as Prince Yusuf Derdoski and his pregnant sister. Two other siblings were reportedly taken away by the attackers to an unknown location.
Sources in the community said the gunmen stormed the house under the cover of darkness, shooting indiscriminately before abducting the victims.
The incident has thrown Pindiga into deep mourning, with residents describing the killings as brutal and shocking.
