Terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, have abducted a trader, Emmanuel Omo Baba, along the Egbe-Oke-Ere road in the Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Monday, January 26.

The victim, a native of Apoto community, was reportedly kidnapped while at a charcoal farm located along the Oke-Ere axis.

It was gathered that the assailants struck during his visit to the farm, abducted him at gunpoint and escaped to an undisclosed location.

The abduction has thrown residents and traders into fear, particularly those who depend on the Egbe-Oke-Ere route for daily movement and commercial activities.

A local community platform, Egbe Mekun, confirmed that armed bandits have recently shifted their operations to the Koro-Egbe Road and the Egbe-Oke-Ere Road, raising concerns over worsening insecurity in the area.

Meanwhile, residents of Egbe, Oke-Ere and surrounding communities are now calling for urgent intervention by security agencies to secure the victim’s release and stem the growing wave of abductions and criminal activities along the corridor.
