According to the police, operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters effected the arrests on the evening of Monday, January 26, 2026, following “technologically driven information.”
The Anambra State Police Command said its operatives have arrested two female suspects in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, reported missing in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters effected the arrests on the evening of Monday, January 26, 2026, following “technologically driven information.”
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued on Tuesday, identified the suspects as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday.
Ikenga stated, “During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana.”
In response to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a discreet and comprehensive investigation.
The police spokesperson said the investigation would focus on establishing the circumstances surrounding the girl’s relocation outside the country and identifying other individuals who may have been involved in the incident.
The Anambra State Police Command assured the public that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
