SaharaReporters gathered that the abduction occurred on Thursday morning, and no gunfire or disturbance was reportedly heard from the victims’ residence.

A 60-year-old Zamfara businessman, Alhaji Ali Mada, and his two wives, Zainab Ali, 50, and Rakiya Ali, 48, have been abducted by bandits in Mada community under Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

SaharaReporters gathered that the abduction occurred on Thursday morning, and no gunfire or disturbance was reportedly heard from the victims’ residence.

After receiving information about the incident, security forces were promptly mobilised to the scene to gather details and begin investigations.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar Muhammad, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Thursday, stating: “The incident happened but effort is still ongoing to rescue them unhurt. Further development will be communicated in due course.”

SaharaReporters further learnt that the police are coordinating ongoing efforts to trace the abducted family members, with teams actively engaged in the community.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement to assist security forces, SaharaReporters gathered.

Similarly, earlier on Thursday, it was reported that bandits had abducted Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, the North-West Youth Leader of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, Zamfara State chapter, in a fresh attack in Gusau, the state capital.

The abduction reportedly occurred when no fewer than 30 heavily armed men invaded Gusau’s residence and forcefully whisked him away in the presence of his wife.

A security platform, Bakatsine, confirmed the incident on Thursday, noting that security agencies had been alerted immediately after the abduction.

Meanwhile, the gunmen reportedly arrived in large numbers, overpowering any form of resistance before taking the victim to an unknown destination.

Zamfara State has long struggled with rampant banditry, mass kidnappings, and violent attacks on communities, despite repeated assurances from successive governments and security agencies.

Several local government areas within the state and its surrounding regions have experienced recurring raids by armed groups, with politicians, traditional leaders, and ordinary residents increasingly targeted for kidnapping-for-ransom.
