According to the officially published performance document, the expenditure covered the acquisition of one armoured vehicle for the governor, one Prado SUV for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and one GAC vehicle.

The budget description for the expenditure read: "Purchase of One (1) Nos. Armoured Vehicle for Ag. Gov, One (1) Nos. Prado Jeep for SSG, One (1) Nos. GAC."

The spending forms part of the state’s capital expenditure in 2025 and was captured under vehicle procurement for executive use.

The disclosure comes amid growing concerns over government spending priorities, particularly at a time of economic hardship and rising cost of living across the country.

Earlier investigations by SaharaReporters revealed that the Ondo State Government plans to allocate even more funds for luxury vehicles in its 2026 budget, this time for members of the State House of Assembly.

A review of the official budget document shows a proposed N2.4 billion for the purchase of vehicles for lawmakers.

Of this total, N2.16 billion is earmarked for 27 Fortuner SUVs for members of the House of Assembly and the Clerk of the House. An additional N245 million is allocated for vehicles intended for the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Majority Leader of the 10th Assembly, while N85 million is specifically set aside for vehicles for the Deputy Speaker.

Beyond vehicle purchases, the 2026 budget includes substantial allocations for legislative infrastructure.

A total of N765 million has been set aside for renovations of the Ondo State House of Assembly Complex and its official lodge.

Of this, N485 million is earmarked for refurbishing the Assembly Complex, while N280 million is allocated for upgrading the official lodge and residential quarters.

The budget also proposes N80 million for telephone expenses by House of Assembly members, translating to an average daily expenditure of N219,178 on calls throughout the year.

Combined, these figures underscore significant public spending on vehicles, infrastructure, and recurrent expenses within the executive and legislative arms of the Ondo State Government.
