A SaharaReporters review of the public payment portal, Govspend, has shown that a total of N122 million was spent on the purchase of vehicles for traditional rulers in Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to the payment details on the portal, the expenditure was described as “provision and supply of SUVs and cars for traditional rulers in Ikeja Federal Constituency.”

The contract for the supply of the vehicles was awarded to Sparktech Global Ventures Limited, with payment made on February 16, 2025.

The transaction was carried out through the Federal Cooperative College, Kaduna.

This development follows earlier revelations by SaharaReporters that Hon. James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja federal constituency, spent N52.4 million in November 2024 on the purchase of vehicles for traditional rulers in the same Ikeja Federal Constituency.

That transaction was also executed through the Federal Cooperative College, Kaduna, and the contract was similarly awarded to Sparktech Global Ventures Limited.

The latest N122 million expenditure is part of a broader pattern of spending on vehicles for traditional rulers in Ikeja between August 2023 and December 2023, during which a total of N230 million was expended on SUVs and other vehicles.

Records from GovSpend show that the contracts for the N230 million vehicle supply were awarded to Joydrill Integrated Services Limited and other companies.

For instance, on August 15, 2023, Joydrill Integrated Services Limited was awarded a contract valued at N108.6 million for the supply of SUVs and cars for traditional rulers in Ikeja.

The following day, August 16, an additional N8.5 million was paid for the provision of SUVs, with Talu Tandu Nigeria Limited awarded the contract to supply vehicles to the same constituency.

Further payments were made in December 2023. On December 18, a sum of N108.6 million was paid to Joydrill Integrated Services Limited for the supply of SUVs in Ikeja, Lagos State. Two days earlier, on December 16, 2023, another N5.8 million was spent on supplying SUVs and cars for traditional rulers in the same area, with the contract awarded to Elon Construction Limited.

While the Federal Cooperative College is located in Kaduna State, the repeated use of the institution as the channel for executing contracts tied to the Ikeja Federal Constituency has raised questions.

In particular, the connection between Faleke and Joydrill Integrated Services Limited, one of the companies awarded contracts, drew scrutiny.

Faleke represents Ikeja in the House of Representatives and all the vehicles were supplied to traditional rulers in the Ikeja Federal Constituency.

Previously, Tracka criticized Faleke for awarding a contract to Joydrill Integrated Services for the installation of solar lights in Ikeja. He was accused of presenting the contract as a personal donation, while some of the installed lights were reportedly non-functional.

The same company was also awarded a contract by the Federal Cooperative College, Kaduna, to supply SUVs to traditional rulers in the Ikeja Federal Constituency.
