The EFCC said it commenced investigation after the video surfaced, traced the actress, and subsequently effected her arrest for questioning.

The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, arrested Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over alleged naira mutilation.

Inuwa was arrested following a viral video circulated on social media in which she was seen using naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose.

The EFCC said it commenced investigation after the video surfaced, traced the actress, and subsequently effected her arrest for questioning.

She is currently in custody at the Commission’s detention facility in Kano as investigations continue.

The EFCC stated that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Inuwa is not new to controversies.

In January 2025, the Kano State Censorship Board suspended Inuwa for one year over what it described as “inappropriate dressing” and the use of “offensive language” in some of her videos.

In a statement issued by its Information Officer, Abdullahi Sulaiman, the board said the suspension followed Inuwa’s failure to heed several warnings.

The statement partly read, “Samha Inuwa had been repeatedly cautioned about her crude dressing and vulgar displays, but she continued to flout the board’s regulations.”

The board also announced the immediate revocation of Inuwa’s licence and ordered a halt to the censorship of movies featuring the actress.

“In addition to the suspension, the board has revoked her licence and halted the censorship of any films featuring her.

“The board reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all films, writings, and other forms of expression align with the state’s religious values, cultural norms, and moral standards,” it said.
