Adeola said preliminary investigations revealed that Onudhona allegedly became involved in fraudulent activities in 2023 after joining a syndicate specialising in romance-related scams.

The Lagos Airport Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Precious Onudhona, for alleged N48.5 million fraud linked to a romance scam syndicate operating through social media platforms.

Onudhona, who hails from Delta State, was arrested on February 2, 2026, at an airport in Lagos while attempting to board a flight to Asaba, Delta State capital, following an actionable intelligence.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Mohammed Adeola, the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Fraud Unit as part of ongoing efforts to prevent criminal activities within the aviation environment.

Adeola said preliminary investigations revealed that Onudhona allegedly became involved in fraudulent activities in 2023 after joining a syndicate specialising in romance-related scams.

The group is said to have targeted unsuspecting victims through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, using fake identities and carefully crafted narratives to deceive their targets.

Police said the suspect allegedly posed as “Travis Kevin,” a white American medical doctor, and created a fake banking domain designed to display fictitious account balances.

Investigators further alleged that the platform was used to convince victims to send money under the guise that the funds would be repaid within a short time.

The suspect reportedly told victims that the funds were needed for feeding and medical supplies after he claimed to have sustained injuries in the line of duty.

The proceeds of the alleged fraud were said to have been received through cryptocurrency transactions.

The total amount linked to the scam was put at N48,500,000, equivalent to about $35,000.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Police Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case to ensure that justice is served.

Olufunke also directed that efforts be intensified to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate.

The CP reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance toward criminal activities within the airport ecosystem, describing the aviation sector as a highly sensitive environment that must be protected from unlawful exploitation.

The Command said the suspect will be transferred to the Interpol section for further investigation and prosecution.

It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding passengers, airport facilities and the wider aviation corridor from criminal activities.
