Records from public expenditure data show that the payment was made on September 15, 2025, to Dederi Investment Limited.
The Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian presidency, through the Office of the Chief of Staff, spent N569 million on the renovation of the Vice President’s Quarters at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Records from public expenditure data show that the payment was made on September 15, 2025, to Dederi Investment Limited.
The transaction was listed as an additional cost for an ongoing renovation project at the official residence of the Vice President.
The payment description reads; "Being additional payment for phase ii renovation of Vice President Quarters."
This spending forms part of a broader pattern of renovation-related expenditures by the Federal Government within the Presidential Villa.
A review of the approved 2025 budget by SaharaReporters earlier revealed that the government earmarked N5.4 billion for the renovation of the Presidential Villa in the 2025 fiscal year.
The allocation is captured under the State House headquarters section of the budget.
The scale of these expenditures has attracted attention amid Nigeria’s difficult economic conditions, including rising public debt, limited revenue growth, and increasing pressure on public finances.
Data previously published on the Open Treasury Portal further indicates that similar spending occurred in 2024. In May 2024, the Tinubu administration spent N3.6 billion on the rehabilitation and renovation of residential buildings within the Presidential Villa.
During the same month, another N8.5 billion was spent on the provision and construction of office buildings within the Villa.
Together, the renovation and construction projects carried out in May 2024 amounted to N12.1 billion in public spending.
Beyond the N569 million already paid for the Vice President’s Quarters, budget documents for 2025 also show that N298.3 million was allocated for the renovation of the Vice President’s guest house.
In addition, the federal government has planned a further N466.8 million for another round of renovation works on the Vice President’s Quarters at the State House, Presidential Villa.
These figures show that substantial public funds continue to be committed to renovation projects within the Presidency, even as concerns persist over government spending priorities and fiscal sustainability.
