According to them, “the said congress was irregular and lacked legitimacy, particularly due to the exclusion of known party members, former stakeholders, and established structures of the party within Delta State.”

Some members of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Delta State have announced their collective resignation from the party, citing what they described as an “irregular” and illegitimate process that produced Maxwell Ogor as Chairman of the party’s Delta State chapter.

In a resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman, National Secretary and members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the aggrieved members said they were withdrawing their membership “at all levels, with immediate effect.”

They explained that their decision followed “a careful and objective assessment of the actions and inactions of both the former and present National Working Committees concerning the purported congress through which one Maxwell Ogor was installed as Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of the party.

According to them, “the said congress was irregular and lacked legitimacy, particularly due to the exclusion of known party members, former stakeholders, and established structures of the party within Delta State.”

The resigning members said the manner in which the issue was handled “has gravely undermined our confidence in the capacity of the national leadership of the party to manage internal affairs with the transparency, integrity, and efficiency expected of a party that projects itself as revolutionary and principled.”

They further stated that they found it “untenable to continue our membership in a party that appears to condone and reward individuals with evident records of anti-party activities.”

The members also accused the party leadership of maintaining “certain statements, omissions, and the prolonged silence” over the crisis, which they said “have clearly demonstrated a divergence in principles and judgment, making our continued association with the party untenable.”

They declared that, “after due consultations and collective deliberation, we have resolved to withdraw our membership from the African Action Congress and disengage from all party activities at all levels, effective immediately.”

The resigning members include Comrade Chidike Edmund Ojuyenum, Comrade Ochuko Famili Etu, Comrade Efafe Godbless Okemute, Comrade Iwalola Temitope, Comrade Elvis Okhe, Comrade Oxley Kwene, Comrade Chukwunedum Omessah, Comrade Ubi Nelson Ufezime, Comrade Ejam Ifeanyi John, Comrade Rhoda Esiosa, Comrade Sammy Lamptey, Comrade Emma Uruemuesiri, Comrade Destiny Oghene, Comrade Erica Ukeredi, Comrade Esther Ogheneovo Etu, Comrade Felicia Ogbotor and Comrade Daniel Efemena.

They added that they “acknowledge our past participation in the party and hereby wish the African Action Congress and its leadership well in their future undertakings,” urging the party to “accept this letter as our formal notice of resignation.”
