The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered all police commands and formations across the country to urgently submit a comprehensive list of Inspectors promoted up to April 3, 2024, who are due for confirmation of appointment.
The directive, conveyed through a police wireless message dated February 2, 2026, was obtained by SaharaReporters.
According to the signal, all affected commands are to forward detailed information on eligible Inspectors, including service numbers, file numbers, appointment numbers, current rank, names, commands or formations, dates of promotion, dates due for confirmation, authority for passing the confirmation examination, and examination numbers.
The message, which originated from the Department of Police Administration and Welfare at Force Headquarters, Abuja, was relayed to all Deputy Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Heads of Departments, and Mobile Police Force (PMF) units nationwide.
The IGP specifically directed that the returns be prepared in Microsoft Excel format and submitted in both hard and soft copies, including on a functional CD platform. All submissions must reach Force Headquarters on or before February 20, 2026.
In addition, Commissioners of Police were instructed to inform all Inspectors promoted as of April 3, 2024, and due for confirmation, to complete their registration on or before February 15, 2026.
This, the message noted, would enable commands to compile and forward accurate returns to Abuja within the stipulated timeframe.
