A South African adult-oriented content creator at the centre of the viral private jet video involving Nigerian Senator Adams Oshiomhole has dismissed claims that the footage was generated using artificial intelligence, directly contradicting the lawmaker’s explanation.

The woman, identified as a South African lifestyle influencer and explicit content creator, posted a message on her Instagram status, barely two days after Oshiomhole described the clip as fake and AI-generated.

The short post, seen by SaharaReporters on Friday morning, read: “Video wasn’t AI but okay believe your senator.”

The lady earlier told Nigerian netizens attacking her online after the video was leaked: “Your senator is the problem go be mad at him not me.”

Her reactions have further intensified public debate surrounding the widely circulated video showing a man resembling Oshiomhole rubbing a woman’s foot aboard a luxury private jet.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that findings confirmed the woman in the footage was not Oshiomhole’s wife, contrary to initial speculation online. Some social media users had claimed the woman was his spouse, Iara Fortes, a Cape Verdean lawyer and former model.

However, SaharaReporters’ checks indicate that the woman is a South African lifestyle influencer and adult content creator, associated with the TikTok handle @leshaandagama, Instagram handle @shaandg47, and a former Instagram account, @leshaan_dagama.

On her Instagram profile, she described herself as a “professional sugar baby” and urged broke people to “stay away.”

The short clip, which began trending on Monday, shows Oshiomhole seated inside what appears to be a private jet, rubbing the woman’s right foot, sparking widespread outrage across social media platforms and reigniting conversations about political excess, elite privilege, and widening inequality in Nigeria.

Many Nigerians have questioned how a serving senator, often criticised for benefiting from Nigeria’s broken political system, could openly flaunt luxury amid severe economic hardship faced by ordinary citizens.

Oshiomhole, the senator representing Edo North, has denied being involved in the incident.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Oseni Momodu, the 73-year-old lawmaker dismissed the footage as fake.

“The media office of His Excellency, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has noted with dismay a poorly crafted and edited fake AI video of the outstanding Senator allegedly massaging the foot of a lady. We urge the public to jettison the false narrative circulating to blackmail the people’s Comrade,” the statement read.

The statement further said: “It is an awkward height of insensitivity by unguarded power seekers who hide under the use of false information and can go to any length in bringing down an innocent assumed enemy, which the amiable Senator is not. In fact, we urge members of the public and the media to disregard its purport comprehensively and in totality.”

Oshiomhole also described the clip as criminal cyberbullying and vowed to investigate its source.

“The video was clearly doctored by malicious actors aimed at maligning the reputation of the amiable Senator. In the footage, the 30-second video published by SaharaReporters on its Facebook handle revealed intent, desperation and the decrying state of media reportage devoid of investigative professionalism.

“Close examination of the alleged clip, especially up till 0.6 seconds, where the lady walked through the airstairs, and the remaining 23 seconds of the alleged footage of Senator Oshiomhole significantly revealed disparity, glaringly suggesting a contraption,” he said.

The senator further urged Nigerians to verify online content before reacting and argued that the incident underscored the need for social media regulation.

“These antics, devised and manipulated by ‘obubuyeye’ content creators in the quest for online clicks and views to enhance the potential of their dollar-rating pay (via online apps), are not only novel to our media space, but are increasingly creating nuisance against Nigerians, especially the influencers such as Oshiomhole.”

The controversy is amplified by Oshiomhole’s political past. A former textile worker, he was appointed general secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria in 1982 and later rose to become president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, where he led nationwide strikes against fuel price hikes.

He became governor of Edo State in 2008 after prolonged legal battles overturned the 2007 election results, was re-elected in 2012, and served until 2016.

He later emerged as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018 before his suspension and eventual removal in 2020. He returned to elective office in 2023 as senator for Edo North.

More recently, in June 2025, Oshiomhole was involved in a public altercation at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, following a missed Air Peace flight, an incident that was captured on video and drew public criticism.

Against this backdrop, critics argue that the senator’s display of luxury sharply contrasts with his history as a labour activist and public servant.
