The attack on the bandits was carried out by the combined forces of the Nigerien and Nigerian armed forces on Thursday.

The Multinational Joint Task Force has attacked terrorists’ hideouts in Zamfara State, killing scores.

The attack on the bandits was carried out by the combined forces of the Nigerien and Nigerian armed forces on Thursday.

A military source who confirmed the onslaught to SaharaReporters credited the recent attack to the deployment of the new fighter jets acquired by the Nigerian government.

“The joint task force eliminated many terrorists today. We killed them well today. We thank God we are now having an upper hand and we hope this will continue.

“We used the new fighter jets recently bought by the government. The Governor of Zamfara, Matawalle, also played a huge role in killing the bandits in the state by providing some intelligence.

“If this continue we will wipe out the terrorists soon,” the military source said.

SaharaReporters had recently reported that the Nigerian military killed a Boko Haram commander, Aminu Duniya, and other terrorists in a raid.

The terrorists were neutralised after intelligence revealed that they had assembled at Kurebe in the Shiroro Local Government Area, for an important meeting hosted by Duniya.

According to a Nigerian Air Force intelligence operative, though their bombardments eliminated many terrorists, it remains unclear if Duniya was neutralised.

The strike at Kurebe came barely hours after a coordinated joint air and ground operation killed several terrorists operating around the Damba - Galbi axis in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
