He maintained that without paying ransoms, which according to him, encourages the bandits, the Southeast will be free from Fulani kidnappers who have allegedly been terrorising the region.

Kanunta Kanu, a younger brother of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called on Southeast governors and politicians to desist from paying ransom to kidnappers and terrorists in the region in a bid to secure the freedom of abductees.

Kanu, who made the call on his Twitter page said that by paying ransoms, the governors and politicians are promoting banditry in the Southeast.

He maintained that without paying ransoms, which according to him, encourages the bandits, the Southeast will be free from Fulani kidnappers who have allegedly been terrorising the region.

Kanu lamented that while millions of naira have been used to pay ransoms to bandits and kidnappers in the region, IPOB’s security outfit known as Eastern Security Network (ESN), has been vilified and victimised.

“Eastern Region MUST be free from the hands of Fulani kidnappers.

“The governors, politicians, and elites should stop promoting banditry in SE by paying ransom to free abductees.

“You pay bandits millions, victimises ESN & encourage the killings of #Biafrans by @HQNigerianArmy,” he wrote.
