Nigerian Soldiers Torture Young Man To Death In Nasarawa

A young man identified as Suleman Usman Akumaji has died from the torture he allegedly suffered at the hands of Nigerian soldiers in Nasarawa State.

The soldiers were said to have arrested a man for theft, and the accused person identified Suleman as an accomplice. 

 

Suleman was subsequently invited to their military base and he honoured the invitation but denied being an accomplice in the alleged theft. 

 

“Soldier killed one innocent boy in Tunga District in Awe local government area of Nasarawa state without committing anything (offence) seriously, we need justice, please

 

“They arrested one guy who mentioned him in a case of theft; they invited him and hanged him for more than 6 hours.

 

“After they realised he was no more alive, they released his body to his family to take him to the hospital,” a resident of the community told SaharaReporters.

 

Efforts made by SaharaReporters to get the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu for comments were not successful as he did not answer his calls. He also did not reply to a text message sent to his mobile line.
