Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears set to emerge the winner of today’s highly contested governorship election, according to preliminary collation figures.

The collation of results has begun in almost all the sixteen local governments areas of Ekiti State, with Mr. Fayose maintaining a significant margin of victory so far.
Ad hoc electoral officials hired by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are announcing the results of the elections at the various polling units and wards across the state. Early results seen by SaharaReporters show that Mr. Fayose of the PDP is leading and may likely win the election if the trend continues. The PDP candidate is seeking to unseat incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
