The  arrest of former state governors continued  in Lagos as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commmission (EFCC) arrested Ayodele Fayose, the impeached governor of Ekiti State in Lagos today.

Saharareporters received information that the ex-governor surrendered himself to EFCC officials in Lagos at about 11:30 AM.

Last week, Mr. Fayose made a  dramatic return to Ekiti State  after a long absence from the state capital since 2006 as state lawmakers planned his impeachent over corruption charges. Fayose has since gone underground.

Fayose's surrender to the EFCC may not be unconnected with attempts by the current state government in Ekiti State to try him for the murder of Netherland -based Nigerian, Tunde Omojola. A Federal High Court in Lagos recently cleared the way for his arrest by vacating an interim order which earlier prohibits security agents from arresting or prosecuting him.

Ayodele Fayose will likely be arraigned for corruption, and stealing on Monday in the Federal High Court of Kaduna.
