Nigeria: A Country in Circumlocution

March 16, 2009
What will you do when you have a child that does not grow year in year out, and in frustration, you discovered that your child has the best nourishment a parent can afford in the world? How will you feel when your child is placed in one of the best schools in the world, with one of the best academic instructional materials and one of the best qualified academic staff, yet he cannot pass exams? The issue is not that your child has no capability of learning, and as a matter of fact, his academic intellectual functioning and capabilities are adequately in match. Will you be worried as a parent? Will you ask questions why your child can not learn in-spite of all the natural and man-made provisions surrounding him?

As a parent, wouldn’t you explore all avenues to see that your child succeeds? The problems of your child will surely give you a sleepless night if you really want him to succeed, and if you really love him from the depth of your heart and soul. If your child fails, your ability to maintain a name in this world may be in jeopardy, and even in extinction. This story of Okonkwo tayo musa Efe Fibresima is the story of Nigeria, a country in circumlocution.

The unfortunate thing is that Nigeria is an orphan; her parents died long time ago, so she is in the custody of those who never cared. Nobody cares about citizen Nigeria, and in the stead, she is constantly raped by those who gained her custody by force. Citizen Nigeria is a product of different ethnic groups and the groups have loyalties to their small groups than citizen Nigeria. Every Night, every day light, citizen Nigeria is raped and despite her pains and anguish, her custodians do not care because the pleasures they derive go to their various ethnic groups.

These custodians have children they value, but the sources of their resources come from citizen Nigeria through which they take care of their children. These custodians have slaves and these slaves are the helpless, the deprived and hopeless members in their midst. The slaves cry everyday for the custodians to treat citizen Nigeria with fairness, so that when citizen Nigeria survives, the surplus oozing out from her may trickle down to them, but their voices are constantly suppressed.

The custodians are very wicked, they have no souls and they have heavenly amenities planted all over the world, so when citizen Nigeria finally dies, they will leave for those countries and leave the slaves to bury citizen Nigeria. The custodians have strategies to keep the slaves in check. To avoid unity among the slaves, the custodians use bribery and choice landed properties to assuage some noisy members of the slave clan. For one thing, the few slaves that are given air to breath are negligible proportions that other small fractions of the slaves take up arms in form of robbery, kidnapping and child trafficking. The clients of those kidnapped are some of the attachments to the custodians, but one will not say that some of those slaves are smart, in the sense that many a time, other helpless slaves fall prey to them.
Every four years, the custodians and the slaves will engage in an election in which the custodians dictate how it will go. In 1999, a famous custodian in the name of Olusegun Obasanjo was imposed on citizen Nigeria by the army arm of the custodian. They have all kinds of agenda, except nourishing citizen Nigeria and allowing the slaves to breathe and to eat. Since custodian Obasanjo did not get his promotion to rule citizen Nigeria from the slaves, he ruled as if the slaves did not exist. His main objectives were to gather money for his Otta farm, his families and other custodians. The pathetic thing was that the slaves acquiesced on any matter and some of them were used for electoral violence.

In 2003, at the end of his four year term, there was another election, despite the fact that the slaves did not vote for him, he installed himself with the connivance of those attached to him and his fellow custodians. All that citizen Nigeria was used for was for the custodians to release unabated orgasm by forceful rape. Citizen Nigeria was prospering during the era of custodian Olusegun Obasanjo, but the prosperity was shared with his fellow custodians in the 36 of the states including FCT. Everybody thought that the slaves would be better of since citizen Nigeria produced an unprecedented wealth, but the slaves were worst off in the midst of plenty.

Surplus wealth means that there will be improvement in infrastructure of all kinds, employment for the slaves, wealth creations, health care delivery systems for the slaves and the custodians, good education for the children of the slaves and the custodians and good lives for all, but the opposite took place between 1999-2007, in fact things got worst during the 8 year of custodian Obasanjo. Corruption grew in leaps and bounds. To stem down the empire of corruption custodian Obasanjo built, he carved out Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and an obscure semi-slave was appointed to fight a brigade of thieves, especially the custodians in the states levels. The head of that EFCC then was our own Nuhu Ribadu. He did his job with unprecedented finesse despite the human fallibilities. He came, he saw and he conquered.

Another highlight during the reign of citizen Obasanjo was the constitution amendments, but such a noble idea was ruined by custodians Obasanjo’s desire to rule citizen Nigeria for life. Who did the smuggling of that evil, Prof. Jerry Gana? Tenure elongation somersaulted the chance for the slaves and semi-slaves to have we the people constitution and citizen Nigeria suffered again through forceful rape. The drama is here again, the super custodians are again at work. Michael Aondoakaa, the unfortunate AGF has taken the place of Jerry Gana; he wants the chief priest of Custodian, Umaru Yar’Adua another term elongation and knowing citizen Nigeria what she is, the sluggish custodian will get it neatly and heaven will not fall.

I want the readers of this piece to pause and read this announcement: the 2011 elections have already being rigged and it will be bloody. Nigerians have short memory and the high priest of electoral fraud, Maurice Iwu will mount the podium to tell the whole world that there is no perfect elections any where in the world. His beneficiaries will horn it loudly and clearly, halting the proceedings in the Senate and House of Representatives to pass a vote of confidence on Maurice Iwu. His supporters will organize another thanks giving ceremony at Okigwe and Goodluck Jonathan and his partners in crime will gather to praise Iwu for a clean job well done.

Nigeria is not cursed, but self preservation, greed, wickedness, kleptomania and lack of commitment in the Nigerian project have been the reasons why the country will never progress. Anybody who doubts what a difference a leader can make should go to University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) to see what Prof. Nebo did there within the space of time he occupied the leadership of that institution. One person can determine the destiny of Nigeria and one person can ruin the destiny of our country. Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is not a good leader, he is sluggish, he is sick and he has not what it takes to transform a country like Nigeria, but guess what; he will be rigged into office again as it was in 2007. The country will still continue business as usual.

The gifts so far from custodian Yar’Adua are 1.using bulldozer to scrap the teeth of EFCC to massage the egos of those that help plant him into office and his enabler is Michael Aondoakaa, who was sleeping on the same bed with James Ibori, the Sarakis and the Kalus before his appointment as AGF. 2. Aondoakaa also secured a dirty victory for Yar’Adua through bribery of some of the Supreme Court Judges and a frontier for tenure elongation. 3. By appointing Farida Waziri, Yar’Adua crafted a requiem song of exceptional harmonic symphony for EFCC. 4. We will remember Yar’Adua for killing EFCC and promoting corruption in the high places. Let the governors steal and no wahalla!!
