EKITI STATE ELECTIONS: TIME TO TAKE WHAT BELONGS TO US.

April 27, 2009

According to Lord Acton, "the one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the party that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections".

From this and watching ongoing events in Ekiti State of Nigeria, it is clear that we are being governed by a group of tyrants and wicked oppressors. As long as the people (we) do not care to exercise their (our) freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods they believe in, to put shackles upon sleeping men - Voltairee. Therefore, it is the time for us to rise up. From the East to the West, and from the North to the South, PDP has put us (Nigerians) to test, let us show them what we are made of. The future is what we make of it today. We surely deserve better governance; a stitch in time will save nine. In the decades past, our parents refused to take hold of their destinies; today, in old age, they suffer it. If we keep quiet and do nothing today, tomorrow it will be our turn to suffer in old age.

The moment of destiny is here. This is the time we have been waiting for. This is the time to seize the Nigeria we have dreamt of. This is the time to say no to wicked oppression, to tyranny, to abuse and rape of our moral consciousness. This is the time to beat our plow shares into swords; it is the time to say no to physical enslavement in the land in which we all are of equal birth. Nigeria's call obey; salvage what is remaining of this dying eagle. According to Goerge Benard Shaw, democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

They believe we do not deserve better than he-goats or sheep; let us teach them that we deserve better than they think. Our future and indeed the future of our children and their children's children lie in what we do today. "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS" - Mohandas K. Ghandi .
