Ekiti North re-run: Lagos AC warns of dangers ahead.

August 16, 2009

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress has described INEC as an unrepentant arm of the PDP’s desperate effort to completely annihilate the country. The party warned that if the present Yar’Adua government continues to play tricks with the universal demand that the electoral process be reformed and the present ultra-corrupt and partisan INEC leadership be disbanded, 2011 will usher the end of democracy in Nigeria and the reign of anarchy.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the AC, Joe Igbokwe, the party says that the deliberate perpetration of electoral fraud and the effort of the Yar’Adua government to continue allowing such absurd fraud with the hope of benefiting from it will spell certain doom for the country and the wobbly democracy in place presently. The party therefore calls for the immediate sack of the INEC leadership and the fast-tracking of the electoral reform process to save a certain perdition that awaits the present democracy.

“We are yet to understand the mischievous retention of a recklessly amoral and unrepentant INEC leadership as it perpetrates one howling electoral fraud after the other and threatens to besmear the electoral fraud with manifest fraud. With each passing day and as the present government plays one form of trick or the other on Nigerians so as to sustain the fraudulent strength of the PDP, Nigerians are being made to completely lose hope of any sincere effort at electoral reform. It is becoming certain that the Yar’Adua government is fatally in love with the plot to retain it for what will certainly be the mother of all electoral frauds in 2011. It is becoming very apparent and worrying too, that this regime is not desirous of sanitizing the electoral process but is planning to ensure that Nigerians live with a permanent electoral fraud because it continues to benefit the cabal that now hold Nigeria hostage.

“We use the occasion of yet another bestial electoral scam in Ekiti to call on Nigerians to rise up now and demand that either Yar’Adua cleanses the electoral process or quits because the omens look so scary for this country. We call on Nigerians to demand the immediate sack of the criminal INEC leadership, which sees itself as just an appendage of the immoral PDP government. We call on labour, market women, the press, the bar, students and indeed the millions of distraught Nigerians to rise up now for a definite action on the worsening electoral scam being perpetrated by the PDP in Nigeria. We must all make a demand that this country must either have a free or fair election or else, let this so-called democracy go in ruins.”
