{joomplu:2192}{joomplu:2191}{joomplu:2183}{joomplu:2180}The Ondo State Council of Obas today announced the suspension of the Deji  of Akure, Adepoju Adesina, for engaging in street fights and spousal abuse that left his second wife hospitalized. The chairman of the council, Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi, the Olowo of Owo,  told reporters that the decision to remove the traditional ruler arose from the avalanche of evidence available to the council regarding the despicable conduct of the cab-driver turned king of the Akure kingdom.
As we reported a few days ago, Mr. Adepoju invaded the home of his estranged wife, Olori Bolanle Adepoju, pouring a potent substance on her arms before descending heavily on her.

The rampaging traditional ruler, who was recently suspended by kingmakers in Akure but was restored by Governor Segun Mimiko of Ondo State, has been accused of using drugs and engaging in sundry criminal behaviour that has tarnished the traditional institution of the “Deji of Akure.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian police has agreed to conduct a “full scale investigation” into the Oba’s conduct after public pressure forced the agency to withdraw its initial claim that the brutality visited on the wife of Mr. Adepoju was a “domestic affair.”

It has also been revealed that the brutalized victim is pregnant with her third child.  In the meantime, the troubled Oba has told some of his loyal subjects that he has “retreated to “Igbo Idumale”, (the forest of spirits) to seek the help of his ancestors and would remain there without food and water for seven days. It is unclear how the police would be able to reach him in the forest to enable them conduct their investigations.
