INEC Releases Timetable For 2011 General Elections

At INEC’ s national headquarters in Abuja, on Tuesday, INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Information, Publicity and Communication, Prince Solomon Soyebi  who stood in for the body’s chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega stated that the release of the timetable is based on the authority conferred on INEC by both the amended national constitution and the Electoral Act, 2010.

TIME TABLE OF ACTIVITIES FOR 2011 GENERAL ELECTIONS

 

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Independent National Electoral Commission by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2010 and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, the Independent National Electoral Commission (in this Time Table and Schedule of Activities referred to as “the Commission” hereby issues this Time Table and Schedule of Activities for 2011 General Elections

Note: Run offs for Governorship and Presidential Elections (if any) will be held within 7 days after the announcement of the result of the respective elections. Section 179 (4) and (5) and Section 134 (4) and (5) respectively of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.
