I, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, am directed to notify you all of my intention to commence broad-based consultations towards drawing up a provisional list of meritorious and credible Nigerians for the 2011 national honours list. You are all aware of the premium that my administration places on the national honours programme. To the glory of God, my administration successfully organized the 2010 awards ceremony during which beloved compatriots such as Chief Mrs. Patricia Etteh, Mr. Femi Otedola, Alhaji Dikko Inde, and Mr. Ogbonnaya Onovo were rewarded for their illustrious and selfless service to this great country of ours. We must consolidate and sustain this solid foundation after winning the 2011 election. I can think of no other way to celebrate our anticipated landslide victory in the forthcoming election than to honour another set of eminent and illustrious Nigerians. To this end, may I seize this opportunity to call on you, members of the Executive Council of the Federation, my kitchen cabinet or cabal, loyal Aso Rock aides, Godfathers, Chieftains, Stakeholders, and Elder Statesmen within our great party, to nominate prospective awardees and commence a vigorous debate in order to ensure that we put forward and honour only the best amongst us.

Your Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we, members of the Executive Council of the Federation, your kitchen cabinet or cabal, loyal Aso Rock aides, Godfathers, Chieftains, Stakeholders, and Elder Statesmen in the PDP, wish to thank you for the confidence reposed in us as we begin the nomination process for the 2011 national honours. This, your Excellency, is yet another demonstration of your unflinching determination to mend Nigeria and move the country forward. Upon reception of your brilliant memo, your Excellency sir, we immediately formed various committees and strategy caucuses to streamline the nomination process. Chief among these are the nominations collection and collation committee, the nominations vetting committee, the Facebook liaison committee which we charged to seek the input of your teeming Facebook constituency, the religious harmony committee to ensure a fair representation of Christians and Moslems in the final list, and the ethnic equity committee to ensure equal representation of Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo in the list. Sorry, your Excellency sir, we meant Ijaw, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo. In line with the spirit of democracy sir, these committees have been empowered to form their own subcommittees. We shall submit periodic progress reports to the Presidency.

Your Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we are delighted to inform you that after several months of rigorous and painstaking work, our various committees and subcommittees have now drawn up a provisional list of illustrious ten Nigerians for your kind consideration for the 2011 national honours project. Your Excellency sir, the following men and women made the cut:

Dr. Andy Uba
Professor Maurice Iwu
Alhaji Salisu Buhari
Alhaji Senator Sani Ahmed Yerima
Hon. Dimeji Bankole
Hon. Ndidi Elumelu
Hon. Dino Melaye
Chief Mrs. Cecilia Ibru
Chief Olabode George
Dr Amos Adamu

Mr. President Sir, these are, of course, just the first ten outstanding names. Our list was drawn using the excellent criteria and parameters that appear to have informed your choice of awardees in the 2010 calendar: probity, integrity, honesty, character, hard work, and selfless service to Nigeria. We realize that Chief Olabode George and Chief Mrs Cecilia Ibru are currently in less than complimentary circumstances but we feel very strongly that our great party owes them one. Ours is a party of trickle-down prosperity and the story of that philosophy of ours cannot be told without mentioning the enormous contributions of Chiefs Bode George and Cecilia Ibru to the history of prosperity in this country since 1999. In foreign affairs, at no time have relations between Nigeria and the Arab world been stronger. This is especially true of relations between Nigeria and Egypt. We achieved this feat largely through the patriotic efforts of Alhaji Senator Sani Ahmed Yerima, hence his inclusion in the provisional list. Mr President Sir, we wish to commend the Minister for Special Duties and the Minister of Special Duties. The two members of your cabinet were of immense help to our committees. The story of sports in Nigeria is the story of Dr Amos Adamu. We believe that he has now shown himself worthy of a national award. There is no better time to honour this great son of Nigeria than now.

Your last memo refers. I, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, write to thank you all for your service. You have done an excellent job and I am absolutely delighted that you have come up with such a fantastic list of great and outstanding Nigerians. I wholeheartedly endorse your list. I am particularly pleased that you have stated the need for us to support our brother, Dr Amos Adamu, by giving him a national honour. He is an outstanding Nigerian and a friend of our great party who will surely survive the attempts to pull him down by the enemies of our country. I will forward your list to the National Council of State with immediate effect and I have no doubt in my mind that it will sail through easily. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
