Dr Reuben Abati, with all due respect, we need more than a press release or a press statement, grammar or turenchi. All we need now is action.

"To keep going about their normal affairs with assurance of full protection of lives and properties in the country"? Has security surveillance/intelligence been increased countrywide?

All we keep hearing and listening to on any bad occurrence/events like this are:

(1) Investigation is on
(2) We are on top of things
(3) We shall get to the root of the matter
(4) I am yet to confirm the attack
(5) I will get back to you (Press) with more details
(6) We condemn this despicable act

Enough of all these. Life of fellow Nigerians and foreigners are at stake here.

A friend that his car was snatched at gun point in Nigeria recently was the one that has to buy gas (petrol) in the pick up car of the police before the police can go towards the direction of the scene of the robbery. He never got his car back. All he parted with was "We will keep you posted sir if we find it".

It took only 5 hours for the London MET Police to find the guys that detonated all the bombs that happened about a year ago with the help of surveillance camera and tips from citizens and informants.
Nigeria is yet to unravel several inimical acts as bombing, car thefts, kidnappings, buglaries including even money transfer/wiring fraud when foreign countries has FORENSIC ACCOUNTING in place that fish people out in an instant.
YAHOO BOYS are in action all over the country when their computer IP address can be used to locate their hideouts in an instant.

We are naturally endowed with SUNSHINE that can be used through Solar Panel to install SURVEILLANCE (CCTV) CAMERAS in buildings and streets and power STREET LIGHTS in our streets all over the country even to the nooks and crannies. Several people have submitted proposals on effective use of Solar Power to our nation but was pushed on the wayside. What are our priorities as a nation?

EDUCATION is nose diving evidenced by the recent results released by the two examination bodies, WAEC and NECO with 1 Million failing WAEC alone, and the result of aptitude test failed by 80% NNPC applicants who graduated with 1st Class degree and 2nd Class Upper degree, ECONOMY is bad, SECURITY lapses here and there, AGRICULTURE is abandoned since the discovery of the CRUDE OIL, DEVELOPMENT PLAN or ROLLING PLAN is stuck, BUDGET is voted towards the recurrent expenditures rather than INFRASTRUCTURAL or CAPITAL expenditures. TRANSPORTATION is epileptic as theNIGERIAN RAILWAY corporation is no more, NIGERIAN AIRWAYS was liquidated, our so called MAJOR HIGHWAYS (EXPRESS) which cannot even be referred to as a LANE or AVENUE in Western Countries are death traps for all citizens and we keep using the death toll on our roads as STATISTICS with Benin-Ore road as one of them. HEALTH sector is even nothing to write home about as evidenced by the brain drain in the health sector to foreign countries and obsolete hospital equipments coupled with epileptic power supply to provide 24/7 treatment for the patients. What value do we place on the lives of our citizens or foreigners living in Nigeria. We all know what happen to some passengers of SOSOLISO AIRLINE, may their gentle soul rest in perfect peace and may God almighty console their families.

We need to stop this FIRE BRIGADE APPROACH but rather put a long term plan in place and execute it to the letter.

It was until when life threatening messages was sent to some members of Federal House of Assembly and Senators that the bill to register SIM CARDS was passed. Not until when they start kidnapping the wives and children of Commissioners and people that are financially okay that most of the Governors step up action in curbing KIDNAPPING activities. Recently, football player Mikel Obi's father was kidnapped. Do we have to wait for disaster to happen before we put actions in place? How many vehicles is an individual that is not a corporation allowed to register in Nigeria? Cars are being sold to another person without surrendering the plate numbers by the previous owners.

Dr Reuben Abati, please, please and please, I will appreciate you get these few points above as well as that of others that have been suggested by individuals and groups/associations that meant well for NIGERIANS and NIGERIA as a nation as well as FOREIGNERS living in Nigeria over to President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan and keep every parastatals that suppose to work on every aspect of human endeavours to be on their toes and be effective and efficient in the task assigned them.

I and others will not give up on Nigeria and Nigerians until our GOOD becomes BETTER and our BETTER becomes BEST and we become an enviable nation among COMMITY of NATIONS in all RAMIFICATIONS.
- Oluwaseyi Ogunyinka.
