Security sources told SaharaReporters on the phone from the state capital that residents of Ungwan Danmarna had remained awake by gunfight since last night till the early hours of today (Wednesday).

Two persons are reportedly killed in the attack.
UPDATE: More spources told Saharareporters that a police officer attached to the Governor of the state was trailed to a small Mosque and killed by armed men, another civilian was killed by a stray bullet on the scene of the attack near the zonal police headqurters in Sokoto. Earlier gunshots in the city was attributed to an armed robbery attack on a pharmacy in the city.
The police authorities are yet to release a statement about the incident.
