Attah Of Igala Dies At 102

The Attah of Igala, Alhaji Aliyu Obaje, the highest-ranked traditional ruler within the Igala ethnic group largely in the central Nigerian State of Kogi, has died.

His death was announced by the Kogi State government in Lokoja today, and thousands of people have been trooping to the palace.

Alhaji Obaje, who had been on the throne for over five decades, was also one of the longest serving monarchs in the country.  He was turbaned in 1956.
