Registration Of APC: Change Is Here, Says Progressive Governors Forum

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has promised Nigerians that the newly- registered All Progressives Congress (APC) will listen to them and respond by including their yearnings in its operations.

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has promised Nigerians that the newly- registered All Progressives Congress (APC) will listen to them and respond by including their yearnings in its operations.   Celebrating yesterday’s registration in a press statement, the governors described the day of registration as one that will go down in the history of Nigeria as a day of unity for all progressive and patriotic Nigerians.   “It is the glorious day that the banner behind which all Nigerians will file in our march to greatness was hoisted,”they said. “It is a day when the flame of patriotic optimism was kindled in the hearts of all Nigerians who desire a brighter future for our nation.”   Commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)for its sense of responsibility and courage for upholding the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, the governors further described the occasion as a victory for the party faithful across the nation, democrats, and indeed for all Nigerians.   “With this landmark achievement, the task ahead is to accelerate the process of the consummation of party building and organisation from the grassroots, up to the wards, local governments, states and the entire country. Our great party, in the spirit of inclusion, will be commencing the process of securing the input of Nigerians at the grassroots in our plans.”   The governors urged all Nigerians to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of this movement for change by becoming members of the APC.   The statement was jointly signed by Governor Kashim Shettima, Borno State; Adams Oshiomhole, Edo State; Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State; Rochas Okorocha, lmo State; and Babatunde Raji Fashola, Lagos State.   Full text of the statement:   CHANGE HAS COME!!!
PGF Welcomes the registration of the ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS {APC)   Dear compatriots, the eventual registration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday, Wednesday, July 31,2013, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, marked a watershed in our quest for a better Nigeria defined by an alternative vision and sustained citizens oriented mission.   Having served notice of the merger to INEC on Monday, July
1, 2013, and meeting all constitutional requirements for the merger, the legacy parties, Action ConwessofNigeria(ACN),AllNigeria PeoplesParty(ANPP)andConwessforProgressive Change (CPC), had no doubt that the merger would become a reality. The official pronouncement by INEC ratifying the merger is a welcome development for democracy.
This is a victory for our party faithful across the nation, democrats, and indeed for all Nigerians.   We salute INEC's sense of responsibility and courage for upholding the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended. The Progressive Governors Forum {PGF) hereby joins the members of the Interim Management Committee led by His Excellency, Chief'Bisi Akande, members of our great party and indeed the good people ofNigeria, in celebrating this day.   This is a day that will go down in the history of this country as a day of unity for all progressive and patriotic Nigerians.It is the glorious day that the banner behind which all Nigerians will file in our march to greatness was hoisted.
