Another female suicide bomber struck today in Kano, the capital of Kano State, killing four people who were buying kerosene at the station.
The bomber slipped into the crowd at the NNPC mega filling station at Hotoro Quarters along Maiduguri Road in the ancient city and detonated her explosives inside the crowded station.
A bulletin issued by Frank Mba, the public relations officer of the Nigerian police headquarters in Abuja, disclosed that three people died on the spot while eight others were seriously injured in the latest blast.
The bomber did not succeed in her apparent mission to ignite the gas station, a situation that would have led to many more deaths and injuries as well as wider damage.
Meanwhile, the police bomb disposal unit has arrived at the scene and cordoned off the site of the blast.
Today’s suicide bomb blast is the fourth such attack recorded in Kano in the last 24 hours.
