Duncan, who traveled from Liberia to Texas to visit family, was confirmed to have the Ebola virus last week. He was the first person diagnosed with the disease in the United States.

On Monday, doctors at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital administered an experimental drug called brincidofovir, but Duncan's condition continued to worsen.

Duncan is said to have to visited the United States in order to rebuild his relationship with girlfriend, Loise Troh, and their son Karsiah Duncan. He is thought to have been infected with the Ebola virus as he attempted to seek medical treatment for a pregnant Ebola victim in Liberia,  days before his travel to the United States.

Details will follow as they are made available.
