55 Killed In Bomb Blasts In Maiduguri, Two Markets And A Bus Station Targeted

One hospital source said “35 bodies brought to State Specialists Hospital and no fewer that 80 people were critically injured.”

At least 55 people have been killed in multiple explosions in the northeast city of Maiduguri, an eyewitness and security source told SaharaReporters.

A man on a tricycle, suspected to be a Boko Haram bomber, is believed to have triggered the first blast near the crowded Baga market at about 11:20am, killing 13 people and injuring several others Gubio Kaka said.

"He had wanted to enter the fish market but was stopped and in the process before he detonated the blast". Gubio Kaka who witnessed the scene said.

The second blast occurred barely 40 minutes later, which killed more than 25 people, mostly women, near Monday market where women usually shop.

A civilian JTF told SaharaReporters that a female suicide bomber queued up while shopping before she blew herself up, killing 23 people including 2 civilian JTF members on duty.

The third explosion, which occurred in a Government-owned motor park, occurred at about 12:20pm and killed more than 10 people while injuring dozens.

One hospital source said “35 bodies brought to State Specialists Hospital and no fewer that 80 people were critically injured.”

However, some residents believe that people killed in multiple explosions today numbers more than fifty people.
