The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for Taraba State, Kyari Mohammed, declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Darius Ishaku the Governor-Elect of Taraba State.

However the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their gubernatorial candidate Aisha Alhassan have declared the poll results illegitimate, citing electoral abuses and irregularities.

While addressing the media and supporters in Jalingo, Mrs. Alhassan stated that the Taraba elections amounted to “daylight robbery” and that the “governorship elections in Taraba State were characterized by violence, massive rigging, ballot snatching, and abuse of card readers in substantial parts of the State by the PDP and their allies.”

INEC declared that the final tallies, including the run-off elections, are:

PDP -  369,318

APC - 275,966

Alhassan told the public that she would now challenge these results through an elections petition and a special tribunal.
