The embattled Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Peter Fayose, has just concluded a closed door meeting with State lawmakers of ‎the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, Ondo State.

A SaharaReporters correspondent found that the meeting was held behind closed doors at the popular Sunview Hotel and Suit, Alagbaka, in Akure.

There was no formal invitation to members of the press to attend this meeting, and there was no announcement that this meeting would be held.

"There was no formal invitation. It is meant to be secret for the aggrieved parties involved in the matter,” a security aide to Governor Fayose told our SaharaReporters correspondent.

It was later learnt that Governor Fayose led the State Chief of Staff, Dapo Anisulowo, and the State Attorney General, Owoseni Ajayi, to the meeting.

Addressing certain journalists after the five-hour meeting, Governor Fayose said ‎he only met with the lawmakers of the APC, to find a “solution to the crisis in Ekiti State.”

"We don't want [to take] questions because I am not going to answer any question. I don't know whether the speaker would answer questions. We are going to make one statement and that is all," he then added, "they [lawmakers and Governor Fayose] have met."

When pressed by journalists who wanted to know all the attendees of the meeting, Governor Fayose responded, "well, the Executive and the Legislature. We have met in the overall interest of our State believing that we would find solution to the problem, that's all", he quickly said, and refused answers to further questions.

Former Speaker of the Ekiti Assembly, Mr. Adewale Omirin, also briefly spoke with journalists saying, "what the Governor said is what we have done.”

Efforts made to obtain statements from other lawmakers and Governor Fayose yielded no positive result, as they were quickly ushered to their vehicles by security officials.

The APC lawmakers seen by SaharaReporters correspondent outside the venue of the meeting were: ‎the State’s former Deputy Speaker Tunji Orisalade, Bunmi Orilowo, Gbenga Odebunmi, and Churchil Adedipe.
