Kano State Government Reduces Ministries From 18 to 14

When announcing the reduction of the Ministries, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said "this will enable my government to use the balance of the cost for other activities.”

Kano State Government has reduced its number of ministries from eighteen to fourteen, according to Kano State Government sources. The reduction is intended to reduce the cost of running government and end the economic problems facing the State.

The Ministry of Economic and Budget Planning will now be merged into the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Project Monitoring is now under the Ministry of Works. The Ministry of higher education is now categorized under The Ministry of Education and The Ministry of Science and Technology will also fall under The Ministry of Education.

When announcing the reduction of the Ministries, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said "this will enable my government to use the balance of the cost for other activities.”

Governor Ganduje said the cost of the Ministries is worrisome and this reduction coincides with correcting the economic challenges that confront the country. He also stressed with this action all would be good in the State.

Ganduje said the affected Ministries’ staff should not panic because the merging of the ministries will be of great use to many people while also being in the service of the State.

With the reduction of its Ministries, Kano State and Governor Ganduje has followed the footsteps of Kaduna State and Governor El-Rufai and Oyo State and Governor Ajimobi.
