SaharaReporters retrieved exclusive footage of a brawl that disrupted a Thursday meeting at the House of Representatives.
All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers called for protests after the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, called for an Executive Session to nominate principal officers of the National Assembly. Dogara’s nominations did not match with the APC’s recommendations made public earlier.
The angry lawmakers attempted to take away the mace, the Chamber’s symbol of authority, but the Sergeant-At-Arms and the security of the National Assembly maintained possession.
NASS lawmakers then started singing and shouting in the Chamber, while some carrying placards to protest of the Speaker’s decision.
