Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had arrived in the troubled city barely an hour earlier on an official visit when the explosion occurred at about 11.30am.

The explosion took place at the gate of the Molai General Hospital on the outskirts of Maiduguri city, where another blast killed three and injured 16 last Saturday.

Said a local, "Two bombers detonated bombs at the gate of Molai Hospital at about 11.35am but their bodies were scattered near of the Hospital.”

Another, Maina Bukar, who joined in evacuating victims from the scene, stated that the two bombers were killed.

"The first blast happened at the first gate as the female suicide bomber, a teenager blew herself up while the second bomber, a male on bicycle stopped at the second gate and detonated another bomb where last Saturday blast occurred,” Bukar told SaharaReporters.

Vice President Osinbajo visited the displaced persons at the Dalori IDPs camp today ahead of plans by Nigerian government to rebuild communities destroyed by Boko Haram.  He appealed to donor agencies to come to the aid of the IDPs.

Our correspondent said that during the visit, Maiduguri metropolis was virtually shut down and residents couldn't go about their business.
