Armed robbers invaded the renowned Methodist High School in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State on Sunday night, killing a night security guard.
The security guard, identified as Thompson Olajorin, was gruesomely killed by the gun-wielding men.
Mr. Olajorin's colleague who was also on duty, Fatope Ogunwa, was also seriously injured.
A source in the town told SaharaReporters on Monday that the hoodlums carted away the school's computer electronic sets, which were stored at the computer hall and offices.
"They killed Thompson at the entry of the school gate and injured Oguwa who tried to resist them upon discovering the strange movement of the robbers around the offices,” the source said. "The Robbers made away with the sets of computer systems in the school, both the flat screen type and the recently purchased and donated for the school.”
The survivor, Mr. Ogunwa, was rushed to the government hospital of the town where he is currently recuperating from his injuries.
Speaking in a telephone interview, the principal of the school, Marcus Ogunowo, told SaharaReporters that some residents opposite the school made a distressed call to the police after the robbers escaped.
Mr. Ogunowo said he couldn't really explain how the ugly incident occurred and recalled that some unknown people had on several occasions attempted to break into his office. "There was a time I noticed some strange movement and objects around my office which I had to called the attention of teachers down here to it. Initially, we were suspecting some students in the higher classes but we had to report to the police when the incidents persisted,” he said.
