Analyzing President Muhammadu Buhari's Government so far

August 24, 2015

As a Scholar in Leadership, I am going to analyze President Muhammadu Buhari using the Kotter's Change Management Model:

1. Create Urgency: He did this well. If we had continued under GEJ, I doubt if there would be a Country called Nigeria in a couple of years. Progressive Nigerians understand this. I will score him 100% here.

2. Form a Powerful Coalition: He met a System in disarray, worse than... he anticipated. So, he couldn't hit the ground running as promised. Though, he's made some key strategic appointments. I will score him 70% here. Eagerly awaiting to see our Ministers.

3. Create a vision for Change: The CHANGE Movement is on. The Vision is/was very well created and has been keyed into by progressive Nigerians. I will score him 100% here.

4. Communicate the vision: Very well done. For those who believe, we know where we want to be. Another 100% for PMB.

5. Empower Action: Another thing he's done very well. Our economic mainstay is crude oil, PMB's reforming the oil and gas sector and he's empowered the GMD of NNPC to act. Another 100% for PMB.

6. Create Quick Wins: I will focus on Power, Security, Unemployment and Corruption. Power's improved seriously. 10,000 policemen will soon be recruited, that will help the unemployment situation. Security is improving daily, the fight is being taken to Boko Haram. In the fight against corruption, I feel he can do better especially when it comes to dealing with those who put us in this current mess. Nigerians want corrupt politicians jailed. PMB's created mobile courts in the 36 States of the Federation + Abuja. He needs to do more here, I've read enough, time for action!!! He should jail some high-profile politicians to send a very strong message. I will score him 60% here. Nigerians earnestly want politicians jailed.

7. Build on the change: Our democracy is evolving, we will get there. 80% for PMB.

8. Make it stick: The CHANGE has to be embedded for sustainability. Here, PMB needs to build strong institutions, and not powerful individuals. That way, CHANGE can be sustained after he would have left power. 80% for him.

In all, President Muhammadu Buhari is on the right track, and I will support him unflinchingly!!!

My Name is Tobore John Gbemre, and I am a great supporter of PMB... !!!
