Olusola Oke, a former candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2012 governorship election in Ondo State, on Wednesday lampooned Governor Olusegun Mimiko for calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to not jettison the recommendations of the last National Conference.

Speaking through a statement issued by his media aide, Rotimi Ogunleye, obtained exclusively by SaharaReporters, Oke said the governor has again started with his “cheap diversionary propaganda” anchored on self-imposed leadership.

He disclosed that the call was an attempt to distract President Buhari from attending to the injustice on the people of the country by the past administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Like he did under President Goodluck Jonathan, he has engaged in another round of cheap diversionary propaganda anchored on a self-imposed leadership status he arrogated to himself, to distract President Muhammadu Buhari from the good job of redressing the injustice of the past and ameliorating the sufferings of the people of Nigerian.”

Governor Mimiko had on Tuesday called on the Buhari administration at the opening session of the strategic meeting of the Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly (SNPA) not to jettison the recommendations of the last National Conference, which he said preferred solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting the country.

Mr. Oke, now a leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC) described the beleaguered Governor Mimiko as a “leopard that will never change his spot” with his deceptive style of seeking irrelevant attention on his call for true federalism.

“I read the report of the outcome of the recent talk shop organized by Dr. Rahman Mimiko and his usual co-travelers in Akure recently. The report had it that the governor had again called for the implementation of the report of the CONFAB.

“The leopard will never change his spot. He has again started his deceit by seeking to divert the attention of the people of Ondo state from the ravaging issue of bad governance in Ondo state, poverty and unemployment which are currently confronting the people of the state.”

The APC Chieftain scolded the governor for putting a blind eye to the various developmental policies of President Buhari’s government, especially his effort to eradicate the political monster called “corruption” in the country.

“The governor has refused to see the benefit of the anti-corruption policy of the government which has increased his allocation tremendously in July from what it was in previous months.

“That he cannot see the investors’ confidence in [Nigeria’s] economy arising from transparent and accountable management of the economy and strict adherence to stable and predictable fiscal regime brought about by President Buhari.

“He cannot see the far-reaching steps being taken to restore security to the North East and to resolve servitude in the intervention agency in the Niger Delta,” he said.
