"Stop Peddling My Name Into Bayelsa Politics"- Tom Ateke

September 25, 2015

Mr. Akete noted that his relationship with both leading aspirants, former Governor Timipre Sylva and Timi Alaibe of the APC, are cordial and he should not be dragged into their travails.

Ex-Militant Leader, Tom Akete, who is known for nefarious activities, has distanced himself from the political turmoil rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State. He gave a stern warning to those using his name, alongside Timi Alaibe’s, the former Managing Director of the NDDC to desist from such harming his reputation. Tom Akete’s warning came after the APC botched primaries at Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa.

According to the Mr. Ateke, "this is to vehemently warn those peddling my name into Bayelsa State politics to desist forthwith, as my attention has been drawn to some comments made by one Bolous Ndiamowei on a national television that I, Chief Tom Ateke, is supporting and sponsoring Timi Alaibe in the forthcoming governorship election. The position is not only false, ridiculous, and fictitious, but also ludicrous."

Mr. Akete noted that his relationship with both leading aspirants, former Governor Timipre Sylva and Timi Alaibe of the APC, are cordial and he should not be dragged into their travails.

"Let me set the record straight, that I am not from Bayelsa State and as such, my interest is only in her stability and progress and for the interest of the public. I have a cordial relationship with all well-meaning Bayelsans including that of the former Governor of the State,Timipre Sylva, and the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Timi Alaibe, which is beyond politics."

"I urge Bolous Ndiamowei to stop dragging my name into Bayelsa State politics as his allegations  are baseless, needless, and unfounded and he should be more civilized in his utterance because I will not take any further uncharitable comments on my person lightly."

"I enjoy Timipre Sylva and Timi Alaibe to embrace peace as it is golden and all Bayelsans must go beyond the rhetoric of peace proclamation in the forthcoming coming Bayelsa State governorship election to muster enough courage and will to selflessly make the necessary sacrifice that will help advance the cause of peace and harmony in the State that is yearning for development.”
