One of the witnesses included Dr. Ilemobade’s own son, Kunle Ilemobade, according to sources speaking with SaharaReporters. The second witness testifying before Justice Olamide was Sikiru Lawal the investigator in charge of the murder case.

The witnesses informed the court that two domestic staff workers, Daniel Ita-Effiong and Bamitale Olayemi, murdered Dr. Ilemobade by strangling him to death in his three-bedroom compound in Ijapo Estate, Akure.

A SaharaReporters correspondent reported that the Legal Aid Counsel of Nigeria, a humanitarian legal service group, is assisting the criminals in their case.

Briefing the court, Kunle Ilemobade accused the two criminals of murdering his father in "cold blood" in order to cover up their theft of his father’s Prado Jeep and other personal properties in the compound.

Mr. Ilemobade went on to inform the court that his father’s personal laptop, I-Pad, mobile phones, and the sum of N7,000 were also stolen.

Mr. Lawal showed the court a handwritten statement by the two criminals in which they described their murder of Dr. Ilemobade.

Mr. Lawal said his investigation on the case showed that the two former domestic staff workers strangled Dr. Ilemobade after luring him out of his bedroom.

According to Mr. Lawal the two criminals confessed to hiding Dr. Ilemobade’s body inside a pantry nearby his electric generator, located at the outskirts of the estate.

He explained to the court that the Intelligence Unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) was able to recover the stolen vehicle and other valuables belonging to Dr. Ilemobade from the two criminals who had fled to neighboring Ogun State.

Justice Olamide presented the written statement of the accused as an exhibit and adjourned the case until October 27th, 2015 for further hearing.
