(The Continued detention of Ahmed Adoke by the Kogi State Police Command and Judiciary)

The current wind of CHANGE and observance of rule of law have not reached Kogi State Nigerian Police Command and Judiciary.

Am appealing to the right Authority at Federal Government Level to intervene in the fragrant abuse of Human Rights of innocently framed up suspects by the Nigerian Police, Kogi Command and the Judiciary. Suspects are kept in police cells and suspects in prisons for as long as two months and 2 years in prison respectively without trial or because of long adjournment for lack of prosecution evidence. .

He was arrested based on a petition filed by an individual whose identity is not known. After investigation and delay in taking him to an appropriate court within 24hours as stipulated by the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. Some other persons have being arrested by a Joint Taskforce of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the Nigerian Military with incriminating evidence linking them to the crime of kidnap of a Judge in Kogi State the same crime Alh Ahmed Adoke is being accused of.

Much as am not supportive of any form of criminality(s) suspects should be tried within the ambit of rule of law in accordance to present Government of President Mohammed Buhari. Speaking from my father’s bitter experience, Alhaji Ahmed Adoke 72years old war correspondence, human rights activist, a war front line reporter attached to the Nigerian Gallant federal troops during the Nigerian civil war, was arrested since 7th June 2015 by the Nigerian Police and was not arraigned or charged to any court of law till 10thJuly 2015. (1 month 3 days after his arrest). He was denied bail at the kogi State magistrate court, Lokoja and has since been remanded at the Kotonkarfi Medium Security Prison, Kogi State. It has been detained for months month and since have not been arraigned before an appropriate court for trial and presently in Bad Health and Uncared For.

My father who has served the Nation through his reportorial contributions from the 1st republic, worked with Premier of the Northern Region, Late Sir Ahmadu Bello,Sardauna of Sokoto 1964-1966,Premier of western region during Wild Wild West crises in 1965,a War correspondant attached to the Nigerian Federal Troops during the Nigerian Civil war 1967-1970 reported from all the three (3) war fronts as roving correspondent interacting with General Hassan Usman Katsina, Late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed-GOC 2 Division , Late General Mohammed Shua-GOC 1ST Division, Late  Gen.Benjamin Adekunle and positively contributed Covert Intelligence towards the success of the War that was fought to keep Nigeria One.

Most of the war front combatants officers attests to his brilliant intelligence and propagative contributions and those alive among the officers with whom the war was fought are, Major General Zamani Lekwot, Major General John Shagaya, Major General David Jeminbewon, Major General Diya, Present Emir of Gwandu Major General Mohammed Jega GOC, Maj.General I.B.M.Haruna, Major General .M.C Ali,Gen Alani Akinriudu etc.

Besides above, he has been a positive well focused and visionary discussant with all manners of the Poor, Rich and Notable Leaders at local, national and international levels. He is  foremost promoter of Ebira Hand Woven cloths at both national and international Tradefairs and known for orientation and re-orientation of politically misled Ebira Youths in Ebiraland and a Human Right Activist.

His application for bail at the high court in koton karfi was scheduled for hearing on the 23rd of July 2015 but on that day the presiding judge did not come to court with the excuse that he was sent on a compulsory workshop to Abuja and he has since preceded on his annual vacation.

The continued detention of Alhaji Ahmed Adoke by the Kogi State Police Command and the Judiciary is an abuse of his fundamental human right and a case of victimization because he is being punished for a crime he did not commit.

Till this vey moment no date have been agreed on for the hearing as the Kogi State Judiciary  keep giving excuses not minding the deteriorating health condition of my 72 year old father. For what ever offense he may have committed, I appeal that he be put on trial instead of deliberately and maliciously keeping him in prison without trial.

Your excellence Sir, you are as the hope of Nigeria and Nigerians is the only one that can help us rescue our father from the Nigerian Police and the Kogi State Judiciary.

Let the rule of law prevail in Kogi state.

Long Live Kogi state !!! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

MOHAMMED AHMED ADOKE.
