The former Governor of Bayelsa State and current flag bearer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Timipre Sylva has declared Elder Wilberforce Agiri as his running mate for the December 5th gubernatorial election in the State.
APC gubernatorial candidate Sylva made his announcement during the official launch of his campaign office. At the same event he formally announced that his campaign team will be headed by Heineken Lokpobiri, who was screened by the Senate last week for a ministerial post under President Buhari.
Mr. Sylva, who still has pending cases of corruption against him, told the Bayelsan public that the people of the State have shown their total support for the APC and that its members will ensure a victory for themselves in December’s election.
Sylva expressed confidence in the ability of Mr. Lokpobiri, and other directors of the campaign team, to deliver on their mandate.
Mr. Lokpobiri, in his public remarks, said the Sylva/Igiri campaign organization will visit every ward to stump for APC and bring victory to the Party. He said "we will ensure that APC wins 99 percent of the votes so that on December 6, 2015 Sylva and Igiri will be sworn in as Governor and Deputy Governor.”
Mr. Lokpobiri, who underwent a successful ministerial screening by the Senate on Thursday, promised an issue-based campaign to show a remarkable difference between the Party and the PDP in the State.
