Army spokesperson Colonel SK Usman said that the rescue operation occurred after Nigerian soldiers carried out a raid on Boko Haram terrorist camps in Bulajilin and Manawashe villages located nearby the Sambisa forest.
Colonel Usman also reported that 30 Boko Haram terrorists were killed in the raid. Nigerian soldiers recovered arms and ammunition during the raid including a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 2 Dane Guns, 6 boxes of 7.62mm, and 3 Cutlasses.
Colonel Usman described the army’s successful ambush of four suspected Boko Haram terrorists. The four men were allegedly planning a suicide attack in Gubuli located in Madagali Local Government Area (LGA). They were killed by Nigerian soldiers after the army received a tip off, according to Colonel Usman. The soldiers also recovered N153,385 in cash as well as several Unexploded Ordinances (UXOs) during the ambush.
Colonel Usman noted that these operations against Boko Haram “have further degraded them [Boko Haram] and saved the lives of so many innocent victims of their suicide bombings.”
