Mother Of Sylva’s Running Mate Regains Freedom After Abduction

Mrs. Ebifieghe Igiri, aged 105, mother of Wilberforce Igiri the running-mate of Timipre Sylva in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa, regained her freedom from kidnappers today.

Police Public Relations Officer in Bayelsa, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Asinim Butswat, told newsmen in Yenagoa that the elderly woman was released by her captors on November 9th at about 10 P.M.

“She was released at Ayama Waterside, Yenagoa Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa. She is hale and hearty and has since been reunited with her family

“Efforts have been intensified to arrest the abductors, the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

However, the police were silent on whether any ransom was paid to secure the release of the centenarian.

Mrs. Igiri was kidnapped from her hometown, Foropa, in the Southern-Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State on October 29th.
